Rachel Kushner is an American novelist and essayist. Her novels include Creation Lake and The Mars Room, both translated into Finnish by Arto Schroderus, as well as The Flamethrowers and Telex from Cuba. Creation Lake and The Mars Room have appeared on The New York Times bestseller lists. Kushner has also published the short story collection The Strange Case of Rachel K and the acclaimed essay collection The Hard Crowd.
Kushner received the Prix Médicis étranger for The Mars Room, and her work has been shortlisted for major literary awards including the Booker Prize, the Folio Prize, the National Book Critics Circle Award, and the National Book Award for Fiction. Her books have been translated into 27 languages.
