A combination of natural science, mythological and cultural history and a memoir about a complex relationship between father and son. Patrik Svensson’s The Gospel of Eels (Ålevangeliet) is a rather unusual but imposing book about eel, the world’s most mysterious fish. The Gospel of Eels won the most significant Swedish literary prize, Augustpriset, last year and was the best selling nonfiction title of 2019 in Sweden. It has been sold for more than 30 territories and was ”the book of the fair” both at the London Book Fair and Frankfurt Buchmesse last year. Patrik Svensson, b. 1972, is an arts and culture journalist at Sydsvenskan newspaper. Patrik lives with his family in Malmö, Sweden. The Gospel of Eels is his first book.
